How to Get to Labuan Bajo
There are three ways: overland, by air and by sea. Although overland is possible, we don’t recommend it as it took too long and cost more to get to the town this way. So, let’s focus on the other two.
If you want to get to the town as soon as possible, take a flight from either Jakarta or Bali and just head to the town. The flight duration should be around 1 hour and 15 minutes from Denpasar and 2.5 hours from Jakarta.
Traveling by sea is the best way to enjoy the amazing coastline of Flores. The ships that take you to Labuan Bajo include
- Leuser ship, which departs from Tanjung Perak in Surabaya (can be found in Benoa seaport in Bali)
- Tilongkabila, which departs from Makassar
- Wilis ship also departs from Makassar
There are also private boats that provide a liveaboard experience. If you want to truly enjoy the sea of Flores, booking a private boat is your best option.

The main attraction in the area is the Komodo National Park. This park is enormous, consisted of several small islands. In this park, you can not only meet Komodo dragons but also snorkel and dive to see the diverse marine life. The beaches are also beautiful, too.
